With the world of business constantly changing and a strong base created for technology in the country, it is of utmost importance to augment management talent and resources at all levels. All this lead to the birth of the BBA department of St Josephs College of Commerce in the year 2004-2005. Within a short period of time, the department has emerged as a promising institute in the field of management studies at the undergraduate level. This department aims at motivating students to take up higher studies in management so that they may blossom into effective entrepreneurs who would not be afraid of taking risk, or teachers and researchers who would contribute positively towards the betterment of the society or to take up consultation to help business units leverage on management knowledge.


About the program:

The BBA program has been designed to prepare the change makers of tomorrow and also to acquaint them with the necessities of the corporate world. Students, besides a challenging curriculum, are exposed to a mandatory social internship, corporate internship at the end of the second year, a variety of value add on courses, inter disciplinary choice in subjects, international industrial visits and a choice of several electives in their final year.

St. Josephs College of Commerce aims at the integral formation of its students, helping them to become men and women concerned for others. Though it is a Christian minority institution, the college has been imparting liberal education to students of all denominations without any discrimination.

Since its inception, the college has shown growth and progress in academics, cocurricular and extracurricular activities.


1898:

The school shifted its premises from the site which now houses St. Germains High School, to Museum Road.

1882:

St. Josephs College, Bangalore, was started by the French Foreign Missionary Fathers for purpose of imparting higher education.

1904:

St. Josephs Indian High School was instituted under the leadership of Fr. Blaise, Principal from 1904 to 1912.

1937:

The management of the College was handed over to the Jesuits, a worldwide Religious Order going by the name Society of Jesus. The College is now managed by the Bangalore Jesuit Educational Society (Regd).

1949:

The Department of Commerce was established in the College in a separate block on Langford Road.

1968:

St Josephs College of Business Administration was started to offer One Year Diploma Courses in a variety of Management subjects with Offices on Langford Road alongside the Commerce Department.

1972:

St. Josephs college was bifurcated into St Josephs College of Arts & Science and St Josephs College Of Commerce. St Josephs College of Commerce (SJCC) & St Josephs College

1972:

St. Josephs college was bifurcated into St Josephs College of Arts & Science and St Josephs College Of Commerce. St Josephs College of Commerce (SJCC) & St Josephs College of Business Administration (SJCBA) moved to 163, Brigade Road, and St Josephs Evening College became an independent College.

1996:

SJCBA started offering Two Year Full Time Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) with recognition from All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), Government of India. By an Order of the Government of Karnataka, the PreUniversity sections from both St Josephs College of Arts & Science & St Josephs College of Commerce were bifurcated into one junior College, St Josephs PreUniversity College.

St Josephs College of Commerce is a Landmark on Brigade Road housed in a modern building complex with state of the art amenities. With a history of 144 years and a fine blend of tradition and modernity the College also enjoys impeccable reputation for Value Based Education. The Jesuit Fathers who are in charge make sure that every student who goes out of the institution carries along the indelible and unique Josephite stamp of Faith and Toil.

  2. SJCC also holds the distinction of being one f the first 5 colleges to be conferred with autonomy in the state of Karnataka   It was also re accredited with NAAC with A grade in the 3rd cycle of re accreditation,
